Delegating permissions
A limited grant: hand out a defined set of permissions without full people-management access.
The Delegate permissions grant lets someone hand out a *defined, limited* set of permissions to others — without being a full people manager. It’s for team leads who need to grant access but shouldn’t see or edit the whole directory.
When this applies
Use it when a lead needs to onboard people onto their schedules or pass along permissions, but you don’t want to give them full Manage people (which exposes the entire roster, including invited/pending/declined people).
What a delegator can and cannot see
- They see a minimal people list — just names and an edit button to delegate permissions.
- They can only delegate to people who don’t already hold the permissions in question.
- They get no visibility over invited, pending, or declined people, and cannot edit profiles, contacts, or timezones.
Like everyone else, a delegator cannot change their own permissions — including removing their own Delegate grant. Someone with the right permission and visibility has to do that for them.
